Purpose
The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation
aims are to promote awareness of the local
environment and watershed with a view to:
 | Protection of the regional drainage
system and groundwater quality. |
 | Providing a sustainable environment and
ecology |
 | Providing a base for unbiased public
education. |
 | Providing an environmentally friendly
design for economic growth and ecotourism. |

Our Mission
The Kearney Watershed Environmental
Foundation’s mission is to help preserve the quality of air, water, and
terrestrial ecosystems of the Almaguin area of the Magnetawan Watershed and help
protect this unique natural heritage for generations to come.

Foundation Profile and Relationships
The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation’s role is one of
stewardship. It is not a regulatory or enforcement agency. Its function is to
make recommendations to decision makers and the general public on ways to
protect the resources of the Magnetawan Watershed.

The Kearney Watershed Environmental
Foundation has a Board of Directors composed of a maximum of fourteen members,
plus Associate Directors. These members, where ever possible, represent a good cross section of
the watershed’s community. Representatives should come from varied communities
of interest, such as municipal council, local business, lake associations,
forestry industry, builders/developers, real estate agencies, tourism
industry, and members of the general public. |

The Kearney Environmental
Foundation is an independent agency which advises and makes recommendations to
decision making bodies concerning the protection and enhancement of the
quality of the Magnetawan Watershed. |

The Kearney Watershed Environmental
Foundation welcomes and will respond to requests for advice on actions
affecting the watershed that are proposed by local, provincial or federal
agencies, local businesses, or the general public. |

Members will keep the public,
agencies, organizations, and interests informed about the work of the Kearney
Watershed Environmental Foundation and bring these concerns to the Foundation. |

The Kearney Watershed Environmental
Foundation provides advice and guidance to the general public on ways to
protect and restore the Magnetawan Watershed. The Kearney Watershed
Environmental Foundation will also keep the public informed on the health of
the environment and the impact of various activities occurring throughout the
watershed. |
